The Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Disadvantaged Learner initiative is available to Learners who:
- Hold a valid Centrelink Pension Concession or Health Care card in the Learner’s name
- Are in Out of Home Care (OOHC) or
- Are a current, of former, participant in the TfNSW Driver Licensing Access Program (DLAP)
Learners seeking access under the Disadvantaged Learner Initiative must meet the SDC eligibility criteria of:
- Hold a valid NSW Learner licence
- Be under 25 years old
- Have completed a minimum of 50 Logbook hours (excluding an credit hours gained under the Structured Professional Lesson (3 for 1) Scheme)
Eligible Learners enrolling under the Disadvantaged Learner Initiative will be able to attend the Safer Drivers Course at no cost. Learners must complete the TfNSW Concession Application form available from the link below and provide the following documents:
- Pension Concession or Health Care card applicants – the Learner’s NSW Learner licence, Logbook and valid Pension Concession of Health Care Card
- OOHC applicants – The Learner’s NSW Learner licence, Logbook and Placement Confirmation letter from your care provider
- DLAP applicants - The Learner’s NSW Learner licence, Logbook and Placement Confirmation letter from your DLAP provider
All applications under the Disadvantaged Learner Initiative must be made in person at your local PCYC. Applications for the Disadvantaged Learner Initiative are not available on-line or by phone or email. Your enrolment in your selected Safer Drivers Course will be confirmed once your case is lodged with TfNSW.
All of the above pathways lead to the 20 hour Logbook credit for all Learners under 25.
